BEAUTY IN THE GARDEN
BY KAREN PERRY/PHOTOS

No matter what the weath-er,
every day I feel com-pelled
to don a mask and
gloves and head out to the garden
nestled between Buildings One
and Two. I know that the elevator
is a haven for the virus but I don’t
care. I have to visit the garden.
Why, you ask? I know there are
people in the garden with masks
and gloves, sitting six feet from
each other. I can’t explain it, but
somehow just getting a glimpse of
a wildly purple hyacinth, a regal
red tulip or a majestic flowering
pear tree and I am transported.
For the moment, there is no
virus. It is an average day and
I have stuck my head into the
garden to take in the beauty
there.
