Men’s Club BY PAUL NETTLER If you were anywhere near the large card room downstairs near the theatre on April 9th and heard gales and howls of laughter emanating therefrom, it was our approximately 40 members and guests attending Old Men Telling Jokes Night, at which a group of star-studded, would-be Jack Bennys, George Burnses and Bob Hopes, consisting of Jerry Gilbert, Arnie Rabinowitz, Irwin Shanes, Marty Silver, Marvin Weissman, Gary Zemser and others, became the entertainment. The best part of many of the jokes was not necessarily the punch lines, but how these “Old Men” told a joke, especially those jokes that we may have heard before. When required, the ethnic accents were perfect as well as the facial expressions and body language. And in keeping with the comics of “our day,” all of the jokes were squeaky clean. Of course, that took a bit of effort. Moreover, when a body part was part of the joke, it was referred to by its anatomically correct name. So many thanks to Arnie Rabinowitz and his Events Committee for arranging a most entertaining evening. Let’s do it again sometime. 2015 May n Courier Towers Now that our scheduling Shore more about our club, contact our president, Al Fuchs, at afuchs98@ North aol.com or at 917-612-5350.
