On April 13th, Marilyn Carminio, a former assistant to Helen Gurley Brown, will guide us through three decades of society on both sides of the Atlantic. Beginning in late nineteenth century New York and concluding with the Edwardian Era in London, Ms. Carminio will explore the intricate codes of conduct as defined by Mrs. Astor, society’s undisputed leader, along with changes emanating from the entrance of the nouveau riche, led by Mrs. Vanderbilt. The era also saw the emergence of the American “Dollar Princesses,” who exchanged money for titles. So hustle your bustle and don’t miss this fascinating look into the gilded age, when ladies were not always ladies!
