Mike Shalamov, the founder of
Elegant Jewelers, had emigrated
to the United States with his family
from the former Soviet Union. “This
transition was one of the most
challenging experiences I’ve ever
had to face. However, I dealt with
obstacles and adversity to persevere
and pursue my goal to become a

Mike has provided a reliable,
helpful and diversified shopping
experience to his clients for over
35 years. Starting in 1985 with his
first jewelry booth in Smithtown,
both Mike and his business have
evolved over the years. At the
Commack Jewelry Exchange, his
clientele expanded so much so
that they ran out of booths big
enough for his growing business.
Moving to the once popular ATTIAS
Jewelry Exchange in Sayville,
Elegant Jewelry built his loyal
clientele for over fifteen years
until the landlord decided to sell
the property and Mike was forced
to relocate quickly.
He chose to take the leap of opening
������������������������������������������������������������������������������
an exit away in Patchogue. “I’ve
enjoyed a wonderful and successful
ten years there. “
“My vision for Elegant Jewelers
has always been to be much
more than a store that sells
jewelry. During the Pandemic,
it became even more important
to me to offer the ultimate
experience for all of my clients”
Mike said.
His dedication to his clients led
him to launch a new luxury boutique
in Woodbury Village providing an
elegant setting to compliment his
incredible collections of jewelry,
diamonds and watches.
What sets Mike apart is that
the experience is far from a sales
transaction, it’s a creative collaboration
from conception to completion. He
is happy to spend the time with his
clients so they can take part in the
creative process and be rewarded
with a precious and beautiful piece of
jewelry. He begins with a drawing of
the desired design and then explains
the different sizes and qualities –
including colors and clarities – of
diamonds used to design the piece.
Once the design is selected and stones
selected, a wax model is created. After
this is approved, Mike executes the
