INSIDE JOB
AND EVERYTHING NICE
Spend most of
the budget on
forever pieces, like
a dresser and art.
FUN & FEMININE DIGS
Babies are heaven-sent, so they deserve
cozy, heavenly spaces where
they can sleep, play and imagine.
This nursery and little girl’s room
got a thumbs up from a big sister who
couldn’t wait to check out her newly
decorated spot.
“The Weinblatts wanted the rooms
to feel like they belonged to two little
princesses,” says Homepolish design
expert Nicole Fisher of BNR Interiors,
Inc., who is expecting her first child.
“While making it girly, I didn't want
to make it feel too young. So, I chose
pieces that can grow with them as
they get older.”
Have fun with
accessories, less
expensive items that
they'll grow out of.
The family had moved from the big
city to their first house, a Georgian
Colonial in Syosset, with their 2-yearold
daughter, and were expecting
another baby girl (now a tot).
“She loved the pink and gray color
scheme, so that was the jumping-off
point,” says Fisher. “I flip-flopped the
girls’ walls and accents. The nursery
got pink walls and gray accents, the
older sister got gray walls and pink
accents.”
Fisher adds: “While we didn't want
it to phase out once they were older,
nothing should be too precious. So,
most of the items were purchased
with quality in mind, but durability
first. The feminine bedding and
accessories were an inexpensive
addition to the room that Shanna
won't feel sad replacing when the
girls move into their big beds.”
For the nursery, Mom chose wallto
wall rugs. The bedding, crib,
dresser and chandelier came from
RH Baby; teepee: Land of Nod;
mobile, window treatments, paper
wall flowers: PB Kids.
In the kids’ room, the Z Gallerie
dresser really rocks; mirror, light,
window treatments are from PB Kids;
table: Wayfair; art: Dawn Wolfe; all
baskets: Serena & Lily.
“The older sister was so excited to
have pink in her bedroom, she felt
like a princess when she saw it for the
first time,” Fisher says, adding, “The
play table is such a fun little setup for
teatime or reading; she has so many
spaces to enjoy herself!”
A practical,
versatile room can
easily take them
from tot to teen.
