Dozens of Long Island’s most influential

of their supporters gathered to
toast the 2018 Long Island Press
PowerList honorees at Leonard’s
Palazzo in Great Neck.
The 16th annual PowerList honors the
region’s most powerful people, from
the policy shapers in the political arena
holding sway over local quality of
life to the rainmakers in the business
world who create jobs and wealth.
“With great power, comes great responsibility,”
host Juju Chang, ABC News
anchor, said while quoting Peter Parker,
the fictional alter ego in Spider-Man.
The Long Island Press PowerList,
presented by The Whitmore Group,
is a long-standing annual tradition
of the region’s premier news and
lifestyle publication.
“It’s an honor to be here,” said James
Metzger, CEO and chairman of The
Whitmore Group. “I looked through
the list and concluded that my inclusion
is a mistake.”
The leader of Long Island’s biggest
employer was among the honorees.
“While I’m always proud to be named
to Long Island Press’ PowerList, the
personal recognition I receive is a
reflection of the outstanding work
being done by the 68,000 employees
of Northwell Health,” said Northwell
President & CEO Michael J. Dowling.
Adelphi University President Christine
Riordan was also honored.
“As the proud president of Adelphi
University, I’m so honored to
be among the many remarkable
leaders on the Long Island Press
PowerList,” she said. “Thank you for
the recognition!”
John D. Cameron Jr., the Founder and
Managing Partner of Cameron Engineering
& Associates, LLP and Chair
of the Long Island Regional Planning
Council, shared in the sentiment. “It is

an honor to be recognized with such
an esteemed group of leaders who are
shaping the future of Long Island,” he
said.
"I'm honored to receive this award,”
First Central Savings Bank CAO Michael
Serao said. "I'm glad to be joined
by my First Central team and Long
Island's most influential community
and business leaders to recognize
the great men and women of the
PowerList. I wish us many years of
great achievements.”
