When it Came to Her Heart Health,
Claudia Knew Where to Go
When Claudia, 63, experienced unusual spasms that radiated from
her collarbone to her back and sometimes jarred her from sleep,
she thought she had pulled a muscle.
Her son urged her to see Jason Freeman, MD, Director of
Interventional Cardiology at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside.
Dr. Freeman ordered an EKG, echocardiogram, an ultrasound test
of the heart and a nuclear stress test.
The tests revealed that one of Claudia’s main coronary arteries was
99 percent blocked. Through a minimally invasive procedure, Dr. Freeman placed a stent, a
tiny mesh tube to prop open the artery, and blood flow to her heart was restored.
Today, Claudia is pain-free and looking forward to a long retirement. After her son,
Jeremy, was recently married, she said, “His wedding pictures would look very dierent
if it weren’t for Dr. Freeman.”
At Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside, we oer the only cardiac service on
Long Island aliated with the world-renowned Mount Sinai Heart program. Because
results matter.
