FROM THE PUBLISHER
February is the time to remind each other of the love that fills our hearts. February is an
opportunity to pay attention to those precious hearts.
Women are most vulnerable because our heart is always the “world’s.” We take
care of the special people in our lives — family, husbands, and colleagues — but we
often forget about ourselves. With this issue of the Press, we remind readers that we
must love ourselves enough to pay attention to our hearts. We have printed a special
section on heart health. Read it!
We are delighted to introduce you to our fabulous “covergirl” Beth Stern, who
espouses the love of rescuing animals working as a spokesperson for North Shore
Animal League America.
In our health section, look for the story about long-married couples’ relationship advice
for making the heart grow fonder with the years. To celebrate Valentine’s Day,
we offer stories on setting a romantic scene at home, The A List roundup of hot
date spots, and the story of how jazz legend John Coltrane wrote the seminal
album A Love Supreme on LI.
In business, venerable journalist Jim Bernstein takes us on a tour of the East
Side Access tunnel project that will take the Long Island Rail Road to Grand
Sincerely,
Central Terminal for the first time starting in 2022. We also meet ProHealth
Victoria Schneps-Yunis
Dental CEO Norton Travis.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo mission, we take a look back at Long Island’s leading role in
putting men on the moon.
Our Destination column and Main Dish restaurant profiles spotlight the unique Village of Northport.
Join us for great networking February 28 at our 16th annual Long Island Press Power List party honoring the
region’s most influential leaders at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck.
And as always, make sure to like Long Island Press on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and Instagram, and subscribe
