This exhibition brings together works by artists who disregard
the ways in which the art industry regulates, classies,
compartmentalizes, and essentializes dierence into
sanctioned categories. The artists in Searching the Sky for Rain
defy the fracking of particularities into niche-marketed,
T-shirt formulations of “identities” for institutional meaning
and value production. These exploitative processes administer
domination, forcing heterogeneity into operational packages
for the stylization of a lukewarm cosmopolitanism.

certain collaborations over four decades via four suitably
time-spanning masterworks. From Raging Bull to GoodFellas
to Casino to this year’s The Irishman, Oscar winners Robert De
Niro and Joe Pesci have reunited with Scorsese and mainstay
master editor Thelma Schoonmaker on stories of families
inherited and constructed, fortunes made and lost, heroes
and antiheroes swept up by Icarian hubris and grounded by
unrelenting mortality.
