For our front cover this month, we feature a delicious looking pumpkin spice latte made by our very own health columnist. But don’t worry about the sugar or calories that come with this latte, our health guru is offering healthy options to everyone’s go-to fall flavored drinks. Get your ingredients, start sipping away and enjoy it guilt free! In this November issue, we delve deeper into our real estate coverage for the western Queens neighborhoods. Our real estate reporter Liam La Guerre continues to keep us up to date with everything and anything real estate related in our neighborhoods. If it’s going up or down, Liam has it. This month he brings us updates on the Astoria Cove development, news of LIC land prices, and more upcoming projects. Make sure to check out his renderings, photographs and in-depth reporting. This month we bring you great news for Long Island City and Astoria as the Department of Transportation announced Citibike will finally be making its trip to Queens. They still need a lot of community input to figure out exactly where the bike stations will be but we are excited that the promises have finally been kept. Let your voice be heard! Reach out to Community Board 1 (718-626-1021) and Community Board 2 (718-533-8773). Also in this issue, our friend and LIC Courier writer Alan Capper is back with an interview involving a LIC filmmaker who decided to film his newest movie, about an aspiring fashion designer, on the streets of LIC. With an expected release date in 2015, we are excited to see our neighborhood shine on screen. We are happy to report that the LIC Flea & Food has moved indoors to the warehouse connected to the original outdoor lot at Fifth Street and 46th Avenue. Every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 21, the indoor holiday market will include a mix of LIC Flea favorite vendors with new faces offering local, handmade and uniquely curated items. Vendors will also be selling delicious treats and drinks. Shoppers will be able to find something for everyone on their list. The LIC Flea Beer Garden also remains open, offering selections from local breweries SingleCut Beersmiths, Queens Brewery, Finback Brewery and Rockaway Brewing Company. So bundle up and go exploring, because although the weather is getting colder, there is still so much to do around the neighborhoods. Don’t forget to share your findings with us, and send your ideas and feedback to our editor Angy Altamirano. We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
