When you walk into the state-ofthe art veterinary facility, located at 48-18 Vernon Boulevard, you will be greeted by Dr. Keith Manning’s Miniature Goldendoodle, Casey, or his Havanese, Charlie, asking for treats. The LIC Veterinary Center opened a year ago after Dr. Manning, who has been a vet for 30 years, developed a large clientele coming from Long Island City to his Manhattan practice, East Side Animal Hospital. “It encouraged us. Long Island City has become a huge dog-friendly area,” said Manning. “Everybody loves dogs.” Specialists on the veterinarian staff conduct testing in their fi elds, such as cardiology, orthopedics and much more, allowing patients to receive in-house consults without having to go far. “We give a full range of veterinary care,” said Manning. The facility has a state-of-theart body X-ray machine, with high tech results that can be sent out to radiology specialists from all over that can provide consultation within 24 hours. The LIC Veterinary Center fi nds dentistry very important in caring for any animal that comes through the door. The center features digital dental equipment, which allows for routine care and owners are also taught how to properly clean and care for their animals’ teeth. Complete medical exams, wellness and vaccination programs, cardiology, nutritional guidance, surgeries, an in-house laboratory and grooming, with medical skin treatments available, are also among the numerous services the center provides its patients. The LIC Veterinary Center thrives on bringing the same care and quality humans would get at a hospital to their beloved pets. “It’s nice to have something that you would accept for yourself and have it for your pet,” said Manning. “Animals come in and they feel very relaxed here. We’re fortunate we have a very loving and caring staff.” Open seven days a week, the LIC Veterinary Center is an accessible area source for you and your pet. The center’s hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you need assistance, the center also takes after-hour calls through an answering service with actual people on the other line to direct your call. Regular client Jennifer Adams fi rst heard of Coach House Rentals from a friend who had previously used their services and was very much impressed by them. “They fi nd accommodations for mainly professional people visiting New York for anything from fi ve days to four weeks, putting them in the apartments and houses of residents who are temporarily away,” said Adams. “I’m away quite a bit and rather than let my place remain empty it is nice that it’s earning for me at the same time.” Coach House Rentals is a London-based company founded in 2001. Twelve years later, this “outside the box” minded company has grown substantially into an international organization that is offering over 5,000 short-stay rentals throughout London, Paris, Rome and New York. The company has been accredited with many Trip Advisor mentions including an “Award of Excellence” for two years in a row. “Our guests are mainly professional people. They’re in New York on vacation or for business, and really just want to use the accommodation to sleep - not live - in, so wear and tear is minimal,” said Erin Mara, New York Coach House representative. “This, coupled with the fact that our company handles everything from marketing to checking-in the guests, arranging cleanings and everything else in between, makes this the ideal solution for anyone looking to make some extra income with very little effort.” “We need properties in New York occupied by people who are regularly away for periods of four weeks or more a year,” said Mara. “They must be in good condition, clean and well furnished, with the emphasis on functionality rather than luxury. We look for good one-, two- or three-bedroom properties but there’s also demand for larger apartments and houses.” More details can be found on www.lic.chsnyc.com/owners. htm or by phone through calling Erin Mara at 917-690-0175.
