Italian, Japanese, Peruvian, Ecuadorian,
Indian, Turkish, Mexican, Irish, Colombian,
Tibetan, French, Seasonal American, and
more. This year’s Restaurant Week will also
include a contest for diners. Each time a
customer orders the Restaurant Week deal
at a participating restaurant, they will receive
an entry into a raffle to win dinner for four
to a participating restaurant of their choice
(a $250 gift certificate). Cards are avail-able
at all participating restaurants and will
be distributed in participating restaurants
and throughout the neighborhood in the
coming weeks.
This year, Sunnyside Shines is also
partnering with the St. Pat’s for All Pa-rade,
now in its 20th year, to exhibit
photographs from the Parade’s history at
some of the participating restaurants. The
St. Pat’s for All Parade made history in
1999 as New York City’s first inclusive St.
Patrick’s Day Parade; founder Brendan
Fay notes that “the Sunnyside/Woodside
community opened its arms to the Pa-rade”
at a time that LGBTQ groups were
excluded from participation in others.
Photographs will be available for sale;
proceeds will benefit St. Pat’s for All’s
oral history project documenting the
lives and experiences of LGBTQ mem-bers
of the Sunnyside and Woodside
communities.
Sunnyside Restaurant Week has
helped to increase interest in Sunnyside
as a dining destination since its inception,
with participating restaurants reporting
increased patronage throughout the week.
For more information on Sunnyside Res-taurant
Week, including a dining map and
menus, visit the Sunnyside Shines website

businesses.
