A futuristic commercial building is
set to rise in Astoria.
Located at 40-17 28th Ave., the

approved in March and the demolition
occurred last month. According to city
records, the new structure will be a
three-story, 14,500-square-foot build-ing

parking spaces.
The ground floor is reserved for
a 7,113 square-foot restaurant and
the second and third floors will house
community facility space, which can
include medical facilities, libraries,
child care centers, community centers,
colleges and more. The developer,
Fernando Magalhaes of 40-17 28
Avenue LLC, was not available for
comment.
The building, designed by Bluarch
Architecture, will also include an outdoor
rooftop and expansive floor-to -windows.
