I have enjoyed every minute of being your source of finding out what is going on in your neighborhoods. I write this final letter not as a goodbye but as a see you later. I will be moving on from being both the editor-in-chief of this magazine and the western Queens reporter for The Queens Courier to becoming the web editor for the newspaper. It was a bittersweet feeling making the move because although it feels great to achieve a new level in my career, it will be sad to let go of this publication that I put together every month with such great excitement. As you turn the pages of this month’s issue please enjoy articles on a new dog run coming to the LIC waterfront, the Astoria Flea & Food making its way back with three Saturdays of night markets, and learning about a LIC organization giving teachers from throughout the city the opportunity to fill their classrooms – for free! Enjoy recipes from our monthly LIC chef and mixologist, and find out how a community came together to create an immense mural that pedestrians will be able to enjoy to and from school, work and every day activities. Thank you for allowing me to explore your neighborhoods for these past two years and letting me share all my findings with you. I hope to introduce you to the magazine’s new editor for the October issue and wish you a great end to your summer and an amazing start to the fall. Please stay in touch by emailing me at aaltamirano@queenscourier.com. Stay awesome Astoria, LIC, and Sunnyside.
