■LIC FLEA FUN AT THE FLEA With the sun finally shining and the days lasting longer, make sure to check out a list of fun upcoming events at the LIC Flea & Food this month. The popular Long Island City flea market, located at an outdoor lot by the waterfront at the corner of Fifth Street and 46th Avenue, kicked off its third season last month. Items for sale at the market include food and drinks, collectibles, VENDORS AT THE LIC FLEA Make sure to check out these vendors the next time you take a trip to the LIC Flea & Food! 1 2 antiques, arts and crafts, handcrafted jewelry and fashion, and much more. Along with over 80 vendors each day, the market also has a beer garden, exclusively serving beers brewed in Queens from local breweries including Rockaway Brewery, Queens Brewery, Finback and SingleCut. The bar will also offer a great selection of wines. Upcoming events at the LIC Flea include a Memorial Day weekend party on May 23 and 24 with a guest DJ, drink specials, a bounce house, cornhole and much more. On May 30 and 31, the LIC Flea will welcome back HGTV’s “Flea Market Flip” which will be filming at the market and selling their contestants amazing handcrafted furniture and home goods. “Flea Market Flip” gives contestants $500 to find, buy and fix a piece of furniture at a flea market. Contestants later sell their flipped creations for a larger sum and battle to see who can make the largest profit, according to hgtv.com. LIC Flea & Food will run every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., through the end of October. What makes their product distinct is the hot and cold experience. The outer crispy layer maintains the frozen ice cream filling while served. 3. The one in the picture is quite basic, with strips of roasted seaweed, tomatoes, cucumbers, and egg on top of ramen noodles. At the flea market this item is served in an “as you like” format. Patrons could select up to three vegetable toppings and a protein (vegetarians can choose up to five).
