The Jim Henson Exhibition will be a dynamic new visitor experience exploring Henson’s transformative impact on popular culture. This comprehensive exhibition will feature a selection from the Museum’s collection of nearly 500 objects related to Jim Henson’s unparalleled career, including historic puppets, costumes, production design material, and licensed merchandise. These objects, donated to the Museum by Henson’s family, will be featured along with character sketches, storyboards, scripts, behind-the-scenes footage, and interactive experiences highlighting Henson's immense contributions to the art and industry of the moving image. MoMA PS1 presents Ian Cheng’s (b. 1984) rst US museum solo presentation, featuring the artist’s complete Emissary trilogy (2015–17), a series of live simulation works created using a video game engine. Described by the artist as “a video game that plays itself,” the works are comprised of computergenerated simulations like those used in predictive technologies for complex scenarios such as climate change or elections. Populated by a cast of characters and wildlife that interact, intervene, and recombine in open-ended narratives, Cheng’s simulations evolve endlessly as self-contained ecosystems. The exhibition EMISSARIES marks the completion of this series of works, which contemplate timeless questions about evolution, the origins of human consciousness, and ways of relating to a chaotic existence. Charlotte Prodger's United States debut will feature new and existing works taking on the dérive as a storytelling device. Using narration, sound, and moving image, Prodger weaves tales that imbed time and place through her subjectivity. Disparate topics and sites become linked through her lens. Her site-responsive sculptural works also perform a subtle peeling of the architectural space, rendering details visible.
