D E C E M B E R Le Havre Art League Show 2021
BY JILL DAVIS
After Le Havre’s Annual Art League Show was
on hiatus for a year, it was a very welcome sight to
walk into the clubhouse and see the beautiful array of
paintings, photographs, jewelry and crafts. The exhibition,
which was held on Sunday, November 14, was
once again coordinated by Le Havre Board member
and Chair of the Le Havre League, Judy Densky.
As always, attendees were treated to the talents of
returning artists, including Helene Oelerich. Helene
has long “specialized” in outstanding photographs
of the Throgs Neck Bridge and this year expanded
her repertoire to include several gorgeous pictures
of nature.
Jan Aroozman was also back to present her colorful
variety of jewelry and mixed media. Jan uses a technique
called “Dot Mandala,” applying acrylic and
enamel to jazz up everyday items such as coasters
and coffee mugs. New this year were her colorful and
charming wine glasses, each one painted in a unique
but coordinating design (what a great gift!). Vincenza
(“Vinnie”) Russo was also there exhibiting her
enchanting landscapes inspired by her native Italy.
Not to be outdone, several new artists showed off
their talents as well. Annette Richman and Charlene
Mulhall, both Le Havre residents, displayed their
paintings in acrylic depicting a wide variety of still
life and landscapes. Believe it or not, they haven’t
been painting long. “We began painting a couple of
years ago,” Annette said. Charlene chimed in, “But
we really got into it during Covid.”
Catherine Goode has been taking photographs for
15 years and says she got her inspiration from her
grandmother. “My grandmother died from symptoms
of Lupus,” she said. “The symbols for the illness are
butterflies, which I take pictures of in summer, and
birds, which I photograph in winter.”
