Grown-ups in various age groups will race for cash prizes (hey, first place gets a hundred bucks,
not bad!). The course is scenic, going along the waterfront through Ft. Totten and along Little Bay
Park to the Throgs Neck Bridge. For kids, there’s a short distance “Fun Run” at 10am (free!). Kids are
encouraged to wear their Halloween costume and will earn a “cookie medal” for participating. Note
this is a rain-or-shine event.

Cinema Sundays” with a Halloween-themed
animated feature. “Hotel Transylvania” might
sound scary, but it’s not. How could it be with
voices provided by Adam Sandler and Kevin

What could be more appropriate for October
than Frankenstein Friday, celebrated on the
last Friday of the month in honor of the birth
of Frankenstein and its creator, Mary Shelley.
A Mr. Ron MacCloskey of Westfield, New
Jersey, created this day in 1997. Ron supposedly
chose Friday since more people can party
than on other nights of the week. Notably, the
cartoonist Charles Addams, best known for
the mysterious and spooky, altogether ooky
Addams Family, was also from Westfield.
Coincidence? Perhaps not.
Halloween is on a Thursday this year and
there are lots of things going on in the area
which will get kids of all ages into the
Halloween mood.
