You know this
must be a darn
good play since
it won both the
Tony Award for
Best Play and the
Pulitzer Prize for
Drama for Neil
Simon in 1991.
The story takes
place in 1942
and a guy named
Eddie is down on
his luck. Broke,
he leaves his two
young sons with Grandma Kurnitz in Yonkers
while he hits the road as a salesman, leaving
the boys to deal with a nutty cast of characters.
The New York Post has called Lost in
Yonkers “The best play Simon ever wrote.”
Tickets are $20 for kids under 12 and adults
over 62; $22 for everyone else.

SOMETHING ROTTEN!
Saturday March 16, 2pm & 8pm
Tilles Center
720 Northern Blvd., Brookville
tillescenter.org
516-299-3100
Set in 1595, Something Rotten! tells the story
of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who
are desperate to write a hit play. When a local
soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre
involves singing, dancing and acting at the same
time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s
very first musical. I caught this when it was on
Broadway and it was hilarious, but if you don’t
believe me, listen to New York Magazine which
said, “Something Rotten! is The Producers + The
Book of Mormon. Squared!” Tickets go for $49,
$59, $69 and $89.

Day, Songs of Ireland presents a wide array of
music drawn from traditional Irish folk songs
as well as operatic arias; duets, trios, quartets
and ensembles; songs from the great American
songbook; and more. The company features four
tenors, four sopranos, one pianist, and a partridge
in a pear tree (oops, wrong holiday). Tickets are
$39, $49 and $59.

than National Goof-Off Day on March 22.
Bonus: It falls on a Friday this year, so you can
sneak in a three-day weekend.
The day was started by Monica Dufour and
her grandfather, William Chase, of Davison, MI
in 1976. Monica has reported, “My Grandfather,
created Chases’ Calendar. When I was 10, I
was listening to him speaking on a radio station
encouraging people to call with ideas. I disguised
my voice and called with Goof-Off Day (since
I was goofing off by calling in). He said there
wasn’t such a day, but he thought it was a great
idea. The next day, I confessed to him I called in
about Goof-Off Day. He smiled, and showed me
a local newspaper that said there was a need for
a Goof-Off Day. I guess the reporter got wind of
the interview. Anyway, that is how the holiday
began....”
So, take advantage of this brilliant day and do
anything you want as long as it doesn’t involve
work (don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone).
Here are some fun things to do in and around the
