Awards. Ranging from a hard rock musical biopic to a visually captivating animated
movie to a true story from the 1960s, there’s something for everyone. So come on

 Green Book
 Friday, March 29, 3pm & 7pm
Nominated for five Academy Awards, Green Book took
home the big prize of the night for Best Picture of 2018. The
film was also awarded Best Screenplay and Mahershala Ali
took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Based upon a true story, Green Book takes place in 1962,
when Tony “Tony Lip” Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), a
tough bouncer, is looking for work with his nightclub is
closed for renovations. The most promising offer turns out
to be the driver for the African-American classical pianist
Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) for a concert tour into the
Deep South states. Although hardly enthused at working
for a black man, Tony accepts the job and they begin their
trek armed with The Negro Motorist Green Book, a travel
guide for safe travel through America’s racial segregation.
Together, the snobbishly erudite pianist and the crudely
practical bouncer can barely get along with their clashing
attitudes to life and ideals. However, as the disparate pair
witness and endure America’s appalling injustices on the
road, they find a newfound respect for each other’s talents
and heart to face them together. In doing so, they would
nurture a friendship and understanding that would change
both their lives. imdb.com Rated PG-13
 Director: Peter Farrelly
Writers: Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie
Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali, Linda
 Cardellini
“‘Green Book’ is the kind of old-fashioned filmmaking
big studios just don’t offer anymore. It’s glossy and zippy,
gliding along the surface of deeply emotional, complex
issues while dipping down into them just enough to give
us a taste of some actual substance. And its enjoyability
comes almost completely from its starring performances
from an excellent Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali.
Both actors imbue their roles with precision and pathos.
They find nuance within their familiar types individually
and share a spirited chemistry with each other. They are
a joy to watch together from start to finish…” ~ Christy

 Bohemian
 Rhapsody
 Friday, March 15, 3pm & 7pm
Nominated for five Academy Awards, Rami
Malek was awarded the Oscar for Best Actor
for his portrayal of the iconic Freddie Mercury.
Bohemian Rhapsody traces the meteoric rise of
the band Queen through their iconic songs and
 revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled
success, but in an unexpected turn, lead singer
Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) shuns the band in
pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly
without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie
manages to reunite with his bandmates just in
time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent
AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of
the greatest performances in the history of rock
music. Twentieth Century Fox Rated PG-13
 Director: Bryan Singer
Writers: Anthony McCarten , Peter Morgan
Cast: Rami Malek, Lucy Boynton, Gwilym
 Lee
 “…’Bohemian Rhapsody’ charts the singer’s
 transformation from Farrokh Bulsara, a
shy baggage-handler at Heathrow Airport, to
Freddie Mercury, unrestrained Rock God on
and off the stage. Along the way he encounters
 disapproving parents, sceptical record producers,
  a nefarious gold-digger and a fatal disease.
Yet our hero manages to transcend most of these
obstacles in time for a triumphant comeback.
Just as triumphant is the performance of Rami
Malek. Bringing a tenderness to the scenes
depicting Mercury’s love for Mary Austin, his
fellow band members and Jim Hutton, Malek
is suitably outrageous elsewhere, none more so
than when on stage…this biopic will leave you
having a good time.” ~ Stephen Lynch, thebiopicstory.

 ‘‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’
has great messages about the strength
 of family relationships, being patient
with maturing abilities, and having faith
in yourself… Far and away the most
striking feature of this movie is its visual
 design and animation…The film is
truly a visual feast for animation devotees
and casual fans alike.” ~ Kirsten
