BY JILL DAVIS/PHOTOS BY NICK SANTO Le Havre is continually improving its buildings, grounds and facilities, and the Clubhouse is no exception. The latest upgrade features a lot of new equipment in the building’s dedicated gym, which offers something for everyone who wants to get a good workout (and maybe lose a few inches before pool season arrives!). Board Vice President Steve Young explained, “Amenities are a major part of Le Havre, and the gym has become a cornerstone of that. People use it every day.” Over the past five months, the gym has been outfitted with 14 new pieces of equipment, including three new Matrix treadmills, two new bench presses and a leg machine. Most of the new equipment is manufactured by Cybex, a top-of-the-line producer of gym equipment. The equipment is truly an investment in the facility, as Cybex machines are well-known for their high quality; in fact, some of the existing Cybex machines in the gym look brand new but are actually more than 10 years old. Nick Santo of Elite Pool, which oversees the Clubhouse for Le Havre, explained that Elite went to visit Cybex up in Boston where the company is headquartered. “The Cybex people told us that maybe their machines are too well built,” he said, “because they just last so long!” 6 LEHAVRE COURIER | MARCH 2017 | WWW.QNS.COM This is one well-equipped gym! Other equipment in the gym includes weights, punching bags, and eight aerobics machines designed for multiple purposes that can essentially train the entire body. Steve explained that having equipment that performs several tasks optimizes space while offering gym-goers different options for the kind of workout they’re looking for. The Clubhouse also offers 15 aerobics classes a week in a dedicated room to hold the sessions. The gym is open Mondays through Fridays from 6am until 10pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am until 6pm.
