Are you currently a resident? Yes
Please explain why you are seeking election to the
Board of Directors.
As a newer and younger resident of Cryder Point,
I can bring a fresh perspective to the good work our
current board has been doing. Like many other residents,
Cryder Point is not only my home but also a
long-term investment. Helping to create the greatest
ROI possible while improving quality of life are my
primary goals.
Please list any interests, talent, education or experience
you possess that you feel would serve as an asset
to the Cryder Point Owners’ Corp. Board of Directors.
I currently serve as the Vice Dean of Entrepreneurship
and Business Development at Hofstra University.
I have 12 years of combined experience in the business
management and entertainment industry and over five
years in higher education. I graduated from the University
of Rhode Island in 2003 with a degree in Public
Relations and joined LL Business Management, Inc.
For almost three years, I was a business manager
for recording artists, NBA players and other high net
worth individuals. My experience managing finances
and estates for others has taught me to recognize when
transparency is necessary and when discretion is appropriate.
In addition, it has also taught me the importance
of impeccable note taking and record keeping as well as
managing multiple work streams with a focus on prioritizing
mission critical tasks. I joined G-Unit Records,
Inc. in 2005 as the Director of Finance and was later
promoted to the Director of Finance and Human Resources.
During that time, I earned my M.A. in Speech
Communication and Rhetoric Studies at Hofstra University.
My degree and position at G-Unit Records
helped me strengthen my public relations skills which
will serve me well when communicating information
from the Board of Directors to the Cryder Point Owners
Corp. shareholders. My understanding of Human
Resources will be invaluable when dealing with sensitive
issues involving building staff and vendors as well
as residents.
I joined Hofstra’s Center for Entrepreneurship in
2016 and completed my M.B.A. at Hofstra’s Center
for Entrepreneurship. I provide students, faculty, staff,
alumni and the community with skills and training necessary
to become accomplished entrepreneurs through
multiple programs and services. Having the skills to
evaluate our co-op as a functioning business and investment
should be an asset to the Board.
What changes would you like to see made at Cryder
Point, and why?
Improving the market value of our apartments with
a hallway and lobby renovation would be my priority.
Renovations using cost effective materials that can
easily be cleaned and maintained will add value for all
residents.
This year there are four (4) candidates for the four (4)
seats that are up for election this year. Three incumbents
who are eligible to run have decided to do so again: Joel
Haravay, John Naegele and Tom Wise. Steve Frankel is
completing his term and has decided not to run again since
he and his wife Laurel are busy traveling and he feels he is
no longer able to devote the necessary time to board business.
One new candidate, Sharon Goldsmith, will round
out the candidate roster.
Candidates’ Night
We will be holding a Candidates’ Night on Monday,
August 9 at 6:30pm, during which each candidate will
speak for a few minutes and field questions from the
audience. Please join us in the 01/21 Courtyard for this
important forum. In the event of rain, we will hold the
meeting on Tuesday, August 10.
Annual
Shareholders’ Meeting
Since we cannot safely hold the annual meeting indoors,
we will be convening in the 01/21 Courtyard this
year. Please be sure to attend the Annual Shareholders’
Meeting on Thursday, August 19 at 6:00pm. Please note
the earlier start time as we try to take advantage of as
much daylight as possible. The rain date has been set for
Monday, August 23.
If you cannot attend in person, please complete your
proxy and have someone submit it for you, and encourage
your neighbors to do so as well. Every vote counts!
Following are reprints of each candidate’s resume, presented
in alphabetical order by last name, along with a
photo of each. The resumes are necessarily brief, but we
hope they give you an idea of what each candidate’s goals
and perspectives are.
