12 MAY C R Y D E R P O I N T Special Event! The Queens College Choral Society’s Spring Concert Why is it special? Cryder Point’s own Betty Exarhos and Pam DeRiso Sing! This is the 75th anniversary of the choral society, but what really makes this event stand out is that our own neighbors are part of it! Betty has been with the chorus for about 18 years (she’s an alto, by the way). The chorus, comprised of approximately 180 voices, will present Guiseppe Verdi’s Requiem. “We are singing with a full concert orchestra and wonderful soloists,” Betty explained. She noted that “We are also privileged to have Pam DeRiso, who also lives here at Cryder Point and who is president of the choral society, singing with us.” The concert will be held on Saturday, May 21, 8pm, at Colden Auditorium at Queens College. Tickets are $20. For more information, visit www.kupferbergcenter. org or call 718-793-8080. “I have loved and enjoyed every one of these performances,” Betty added, “but this year’s seems to stand out as one of our best. We would love to have a large group of people from Cryder Point attend. It is an experience you all will enjoy.” Bravo, Betty and Pam! The Dining Diva: The Buffet - Authentic Pan-Asian Dining By Helene Oelerich The Buffet is a spacious, inviting, modern restaurant located on the fourth floor (reached by elevator) of the Hotel de Point in College Point and offers unlimited portions of Chinese, Japanese and American food. It also has a wonderful view of Manhattan, and most of the tables are placed against the windows. Wherever you sit, you can see the city and the beautiful New York skyline. As the name suggests, you get up and down to bring all kinds of food to your table. The selection includes New York strip steak, chicken breast, sea scallops and Pacific shrimp with vegetables. There is also a carving station, Hong Kong roast, yakitori, sushi, casseroles, sliced duck, a fruit station and pastries and desserts (including cotton candy and ice cream!), plus much more. The prix fixe menu also includes your choice of several kinds of soups and salads plus hot beverages, soda and juice. The Buffet is very family-oriented, and is perfect for couples and party groups as well. We had 15 people for a Christmas Day buffet, and it was loved by all! Be sure to come early on weekends—the restaurant does not take reservations, and lines get long. A nearby parking lot is available. The Buffet is located at the Hotel de Point, 20-07 127 Street in College Point. Lunch is $18.99 Monday to Friday and $22.99 on Saturday and Sunday. Dinner is $30.99 Monday to Thursday and $33.99 Friday to Sunday (children’s prices are much lower). A 15% gratuity is added to all checks. Phone 718-866-3722 for more information. P.S.
