Out & About
April 2021
BY JILL DAVIS
Spring technically started last
month, but it never feels like
the season is truly here until
April. And we celebrate several
spring-like events in April, including
Easter (April 4), Earth
Day (April 22) and, of course,
the start of a new baseball season
(see below).
Orthodox Easter will be
much later than usual this
year (May 2) while Mother’s
Day will be pretty early (May
9). And if you haven’t already
heard, Tax Day has been
moved to May 15, which is a
good thing since after this past
year, who can tell the difference
between April 15 and May 15
anyway.
“In the spring, I have counted
136 different kinds of weather
inside of 24 hours.”–Mark Twain
“Spring is nature’s way of saying,
‘Let’s party!’”–Robin Williams
“Spring is when you feel like
whistling even with a shoe full
of slush.”–Doug Larson
“Finally my winter fat is gone.
Now I have spring rolls.” –

Batter up! Major League Baseball is back and yes, you can go
see a game in person! There are a bunch of restrictions, of course,
but die-hard fans are no doubt happy. Note that both Yankee
Stadium and Citi Field are permitted to operate at a maximum
20% capacity, so tickets could be hard to come by. Spectators
will be seated in “pods” separated from other groups, all tickets
will be mobile tickets and transactions at concession stands will
only be cashless. Oh, and if you want to catch a Subway Series
game, they’re scheduled for July and September, so plan ahead.
Go to the MLB site for more information, and keep an eye out
for news updates since rules and restrictions can change quickly.
