This Guinness Book of World Records holder (for writing and starring in an unprecedented 20 televised stand-up specials) will be appearing for one night only at Colden Auditorium. No doubt he’ll be singing those classics along with songs from his most recent album, A Fool to Care. Corbin Reiff of Rolling Stone described the new album as, “Reinvigorating smoky blues numbers, sultry jazz tracks, up-tempo Latin rhythms and down-home country barn-burners, Scaggs has put together a wide-ranging document of the history of roots music in America.” Tickets range from $35 to $69. Miracles of Miracles – A Special Holiday Presentation Sunday, April 24, 3pm Queensborough Community College Performing Arts Center 222-05 56 Avenue, Bayside 718-631-6311 Danny Gurwin, a Broadway veteran whose credits include Little Women, The Full Monty and The Scarlet Pimpernel, offers up a show that celebrates the links between American songwriting and Jewish culture going all the way back to Tin Pan Alley and the songwriters who created them. The show features classic standards such as Alexander’s Ragtime Band (Irving Berlin), I Got Rhythm (George and Ira Gershwin), Ol’ Man River (Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein) and many more.
