Cryder Point Second Annual Coat Drive
We did it again!
Cryder Point’s second annual coat drive this past January saw 116 coats, puffer vests and other
warm jackets sorted, zipped and bagged by Cryder Point Community Affairs members CeCe
Schob, Eileen Annechino and Carmela and Joseph Leonardo. And believe it or not, we
surpassed last year’s collection (last year, our generous residents donated 103 coats).
It took 16 bags to hold all the garments, which were brought to P.S. 9 (the Walter Reed School)
in Maspeth, Queens. P.S. 9 serves as a collection organization under OneWarmCoat.org. The
school collects coats, among other items, throughout the year for The River Fund, which is
supported by the GlobalGivingFund.org for its community work. The River Fund
(www.riverfund-ny.org) offers a number of services and educational programs with a wide
reach to shelters, the disenfranchised, and the underserved community.
Thanks go out to everyone who donated, as well as to CP Community Affairs for setting up the
drive. Special kudos go to CeCe, Carmela, Joseph and Eileen for all their time and effort.
