Message from
the Board President
For those who may have missed the notice
at the mail desks, I am pleased to announce
that Tom Wise from the 01 Building has accepted
the Board’s invitation to join the Cryder
Point Board of Directors. Tom retired
last year as a Custodian Engineer with the
Department of Education. His experience includes a wide range
of involvement in construction, the Department of Buildings as
well as the NYC Fire Department. Tom will be a great asset to the
Board, and we’re especially pleased that the 01 Building is now
represented on the Board.
Tom is taking the seat vacated by Kostas Sfelionitis, who resigned
from the Board at the end of last year. Kostas and his family
have purchased a house and will be moving into their new
home in the very near future. Kostas served on the Board since
2012, including two stints as Board Secretary, and we thank him
for his years of dedicated service to the community.
Please join me in welcoming Tom to the Board and in wishing
the Sfelionitis family all the best in their future endeavors.
Scheduling of the 01 roof installation targeted for early spring
and we are looking to set a start date as soon as possible. In the
meantime, temporary repairs are being done as needed. Please
contact Management if you experience any problems.
As you know, NYC is requiring elevator upgrades throughout the
city. The Board met in February to discuss a plan and at this writing
we are looking to schedule a shareholders’ meeting sometime in April
on this topic.
An April Earth Day celebration has become somewhat of a new
tradition here at Cryder Point, and the date of the event is typically
announced around this time. Unfortunately this year, Passover
and Easter, as well as Palm Sunday, are all converging on
the calendar this April, so the event is being suspended for 2019.
However, I’m pleased that our annual Beach Clean-up will again
be happening this year sometime in early May.
Till next time, Jill Davis
