The Bronx-based Deh Abroad
Corporation and Pure Jamaica,
Inc. Wednesday evening hosted a
50th anniversary celebration for the
renowned Caribbean “King of Comedy,”
Oliver Samuels.
Samuels is a Jamaican-born comedian
and actor, performing both
stand-up and comic theatre globally.
His brand name is synonymous
with Jamaica and laughter, and he
is widely regarded as one of the funniest
talents to emerge from the
Caribbean.
Samuels – who has achieved 50
years of outstanding contribution to
arts and culture in Jamaica and the
Caribbean, and has received numerous
accolades and awards over the
years – was presented with a Citation
from the Office of the Mayor of New
York City and a Proclamation by the
Prime Minister of Jamaica.
This event was livestreamed globally
to more than 200,000 registered
platform users on Pure Jamaica
Social Media Platform and Caribbean
One TV App.
“Deh Abroad and Pure Jamaica
are proud to sponsor this landmark
event,” said Dominic Christopher of
Deh Abroad Corporation. “The ethnic
diversity and high attendance
rate anticipated at this event provide
a tremendous marketing and
social opportunity, and will propel
the Jamaican culture to even greater
heights.”

Heartbeat Opera has announced
a new six-part series, with viewing
from Dec. 4-12, on YouTube,
featuring “Breathing Free,” a
visual album, highlighting nine
interconnected music videos with
music from Beethoven’s “Fidelio,”
Negro spirituals, and works
by Harry T. Burleigh, Florence
Price, Langston Hughes, Anthony
Davis and Thulani Davis.

Renowned Jamaican producer and
event promoter, Romaine Brown, more
properly known as Luigi Society, has
enlisted a few of reggae and dancehall’s
more “unruly generals,” namely Billboard
charting artist Popcaan, Billboard
producer/artist Dane Ray, Munga Honorable
and TeeJay, to lead his 10-track
compilation.
The project, which is poised to garner
huge streaming success due to its
current slate of acts, is a joint production
between Luigi Society and Gran
One Muzik.
Luigi Society who is also affiliated
with some of Jamaica’s trendiest events,
such as Daybreak, Allure, Cross Di
Wataz and Hennessy V, is no stranger
