same roof. An orthopedic doctor
is available twice a month,

Some patients have already
had surgery, and need to follow
up with physical therapy to help
them recover. But others start
with physical therapy, in an effort
to avoid surgery. Both can

Each patient is carefully
evaluated, as a thorough examination
of movement, flexibility,
muscles, and joints will help determine
the type of treatment
one receives. The evaluation
may include being referred to
a medical doctor to obtain an
M.R.I. so that imaging can establish
specific needs.
Many who seek help have
neurological issues from their
injuries, suffering with spine
pain caused by herniated discs.
Treatment for these issues and
so many others are addressed
by professionals during appointments.
But just as important,
patients are educated so they
can exercise at home, strengthening
their recovery process.
The objective is to improve
physical function and mobility,

freely, restoring quality of life.
To help the process, there are
exercise machines on the premises.
A treatment plan may include
both short-term and longterm
goals, so progress can be
tracked and encouraged.
Sometimes those who have
been in car accidents, need to
talk with an expert about their
experiences, says Kristina.
That’s why Y.D. Medical Service
has a psychologist come
in once or twice a month, to assist
those who may suffer with
flashbacks, or fear getting into a
car, or crossing the street again.
Dealing with this anxiety is
part of the healing process that
leads to overall health and wellbeing.
Making all patients feel
comfortable is important to the
staff. “Everyone always has a
smile on their face,” says Kristina.
They understand that
many of the patients they see
have been traumatized, and
treating them with genuine
concern and care is a must.
Often they can put people at
ease by speaking their languages.
Among the languages
the multi-cultured staff speaks
include Arabic, Russian, and
Spanish.
Putting patients at ease during
a pandemic is yet another
consideration. The company
practices social distancing,
with mats on the floor to indicate
where people should stand.
Masks are provided, and temperatures
are taken. Waiting
room seating is marked accordingly
so patients know where to
sit. Hand sanitizer is offered.

instituted rigorous cleaning
and sanitizing protocols, assuring
patients have some peace of
mind while they seek the treatment
they need.
