Dr. Witty, whose real name is
Mervyn Carter, who was the 2015
recipient of Tropicalfete’s Award

“He has been crowned the

many years and has also won the
Calypso Monarch in other US cities,
such as Boston, Washington,
Baltimore and Orlando,” Aimable
said.
He said Dr. Witty has appeared
at the Kaiso Revue Tent in Portof
Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
“A former President of The
Calypso Association of New York,
Dr. Witty believes that calypso is
the greatest music in the world
and is doing his best to keep the

He said Tribal Legacy Band

will be performing a medley of
authentic calypso/soca songs.
“They exhibit a distinct music
sound that always have heads
bobbing, fingers snapping and
feet dancing during their set,”
Aimable said.
He said another master of the
calypso and soca art form, who
is on the cast, is Keet “Designer”
Styla, a solo artist with his own

Lonesome and his management

Daria Primus, who is no
stranger to the stage, will also be

said.
Diwali event for our community
is clear and respected. Thank
you for providing a platform
for equity and inclusion in the
community,” said Ramjattan.
“These eight Goddesses
brought and reflected the
energy you put into the Diwali:
Let’s Light Up Liberty Avenue.
May Goddess Lakshmi continue
to be your guiding light
and inspire you to continue
to do what you love doing
with lots of flawless health
and strength,” he said.
It was the second year that
the Annual Diwali Motorcade
was cancelled due to the coronavirus
pandemic and caused
the festival to be limited in its
celebration in order to follow
the mandates.
However, the symbolism
was evident, as strings
of the colorful illuminated
sign, Happy Diwali stretched
over Liberty Avenue, under
the themed, “Let’s Us Light
Up Liberty Avenue”, a concept
realized by the committee in
2020, to keep the spirit of the
celebration alive.
“My heart is full! Thank
you to everyone who assisted
in Light Up Liberty Avenue
for a Pre-Diwali celebration, a
monumental moment for our
Hindu Community to look up
and see, HAPPY DIWALI signs
throughout Liberty Avenue
and to stop traffic in the busiest
part of Liberty to make
way for our Happy Diwali,”
said Singh.
Romeo Hitlall, president
of the Richmond Hill-South
Ozone Park Lions Club, said
he was proud of the celebration,
noting that this was the
first time that a long stretch
of Liberty Avenue was blocked
off for the Diwali celebration,
and thanked organizers for
the illuminated Happy Diwali
sign that hung over the
thoroughfare. He also shared
that the festival will become a
national holiday.
Set against the backdrop
of Happy Diwali, tassa drumming,
live musical entertainment
and singers, brought the
stage to life, and from where,
Assembly Woman Jenifer Rajkumar,
Judge Karen Gopee,
District Leader Richard S.
David, and many others paid
tribute to the festival.

1.6 billion YouTube views since
its 2016 release,” Tomlinson,
chief executive officer of the

Sean Paul said “’Dynamite’
started out as just a good vibe
song.
“After recording ‘Cheap
Thrills,’ Sia and I knew we
would record another single,
and ‘Dynamite’ is the second
installment,” he said. “Banx
and Ranx, Greg Kurstin,
myself and Sia worked on this
single, and I hope people gravitate
towards it like our first
single.
“‘Dynamite’ is another feel
good record for me, and I just
want to thank Sia and her
entire team, my team Duttyrock,
my management
team, and big up my mom
who introduced me to Sia’s
music,” added Sean Paul, who
recently shared “cheeky new
single” “Only Fanz”, featuring
Ty Dolla $ign.
“Empowering women who
creatively earn their living,
‘Only Fanz’ garnered acclaim
from Vibe, hailing it a ‘tropical
banger,’ while Hot New Hip Hop
declared it ‘one of the most fun
songs of the summer,’” Tomlinson
said.
Earlier this year, Sean Paul
released “Live N Livin,” a collaborative
celebration of his
Jamaican heritage and dancehall
roots in which he trades
the mic with Buju Banton and
Mavado.
“Dancehall can be stereotyped
as a competitive, macho
space where sound clashes are
king, but ‘Live N Livin’ is meant
to emphasize what’s possible
when unity is the goal,” Tomlinson
said.
“We don’t need to divide our
fans to attain the rotations on
the airwaves or streams,” Sean
Paul said. “I hold this album
very dear to my heart because
it shows the effort of collaboration
over confrontation.”
“He’ll bring that spirit to the
rest of his 2021 releases, too,”
Tomlinson said. “Stay tuned for
more from Sean Paul soon.”
