With a large population of Hispanics in the Bronx, it’s no surprise that Hispanic
Heritage Month is full of activities and events. On Oct. 13, to celebrate, the
borough held Fiesta de Flores, named after a Flowers Festival that takes place
in Colombia.

This year, St. Helena Church in
the Bronx joined more than 20,000
other parishes across the United
States on Oct. 16 to pray a Public
Square Rosary. The St. Helena Rosary
took place on the sidewalk in
front of the church and many different
members of the community participated.
This year is the 104th anniversary
of the Miracle of the Sun,
which took place in Fatima, Portugal.
On Oct. 13, 1917, Our Lady performed
a miracle witnessed by
70,000 people, including atheists,
communists and anti-Catholics. As
a result, some of them converted
and many more became convicted in
their faith. The 2021 Public Square
Rosary Rallies reminded the person
on the street that conversion is possible
and that prayer is important if
we truly want this world to be a better
place in which to live.
