BRONX TIMES REPORTER, A 10 UGUST 9-15, 2019 BTR
RESIDENTS MOURN TRAGIC DEATH OF TWINS
Mourners placed fl owers, candles and stuffed animals close to where twins died
while locked in a parked car on Kingsbridge Avenue and Kingsbridge Terraces. A
wake was held Friday, August 2 for the twin babies one-year-old Luna and Phoenix
Rodriguez who died after being left inside a hot car on Friday, July 26. The father,
39-year-old Juan Rodriguez, told police he dropped off his four-year-old son before
heading to work at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, but forgot that the twins
were inside the car on a sweltering hot day. He returned to his car after work and
started driving away before noticing his children, lifeless and foaming at the mouth.
Police said he pulled over and screamed for help. Rodriguez has been released on
bail. Photo by Edwin Soto

Sunday, September
15 begins our regular
Post 253 meetings again
at ATNY, American
Turner’s. Usual time.
Also, there will be
a 10 a.m. Mass that day
at St. Frances de Chantal
Church in honor of those lost at the
9/11 attacks on our country. A procession
for a wreath presentation down to
the Redwood Club follows.
I imagine 9/11 will be observed at
the FDNY community memorial on
East Tremont Avenue that evening, as
per tradition.
Hope everyone had a great time at
the Interclub Races, congrats to all the
amazing swimmers.
What an honor to
get the ‘street overlay’
(sign) for Dr. Paul G.
of Post 620. We can do
more than just erecting
a sign by remembering
and emulating
his dedication to the
American Legion. As
someone said, he was one of the good
guys.
A day in history as President
Trump signed the LEGION Act during
our 100th, changing and modernizing
our membership criteria as requested.
More info to follow.
Until next time: We are not on summer
break when it comes to helping
