Wrong direction
for drivers
Dear editor,
In 1991, two illegals from the Dominican
Republic followed my 12-year-old
sister’s 14-year-old friend into our building
and pushed their way into our apartment
(I was 17 years old at the time).
Our parents were out celebrating
their anniversary.
We were tied up on the living room
fl oor and each raped separately. A few
days later, the suspects were caught and
are currently serving their sentence.
Thanks to sanctuary city laws in
NYC, these two were allowed to wander
our streets, prey on women and children
and cause mayhem. They had no
right being in this country. Now New
York state feels they should be entitled
to having a driver’s license.
I am disgusted that the Bronx Times
Reporter sees nothing wrong with illegals
receiving a NYS driver’s license.
Driving is a privilege and something
that should not be handed to anyone, especially
those in this country blatantly
breaking the law.

$250 million will be added to the City’s

Statement on new NYCHA chairman
by Assemblyman Michael A.
Blake..... “Bronxites and all New
Yorkers deserve better than a new NYCHA
chair who is commuting between
New York and Minneapolis, and earning
a salary of more than $400,000,
while the median household income
in the Bronx is approximately $37,500.
“Some of that $400,000 salary could go
towards reopening the Morrisania Air
Rights Community Center, providing
working bathrooms at Twin Parks and
remediating lead much faster.”
Assemblyman Victor M. Pichardo
on Elizabeth Acevedo Winning
the Carnegie Medal..... “I would like to
extend a heartfelt congratulations to
Elizabeth Acevedo on being the fi rst
Dominican and writer of color to win
the Carnegie Medal for her book The
Poet X. Not only does her book represent
and relate to a diverse audience,
it speaks to the culture of the
Dominican community and to people
of color.”
