Ace in the Hole bus trip
The Our Lady of the Assumption
Senior Bingo Group and AARP #5174
are sponsoring a Ace in the Hole bust
trip to the St. Joseph’s Feast in Paterson,
New Jersey, on Thursday, March
19.
The price of the trip includes transportation,
family-style dinner (fresh
garden salad, ziti marinara, chicken
marsala, sausage and peppers, Rosemary
potatoes, vegetable medley, zeppole,
coffee, tea, decaf, unlimited soda
and two complimentary drinks), boutique
shopping all day, and a show.
Bus departs at 9:45 a.m. fron Ampere
Avenue and Kennelworth Place;
and at 10 a.m. from the Knights of Columbus
Hall on Ampere and Research
Aenues.

this Hibernators Weekend at Wave Hill.

Saturday, February 1; Sunday, February
2: Family Art Project: Sleepy Seeds,
and Winter Dormancy: Winter is a time
of rest for many beings. Create your own
masks to mimic dormant seeds, hibernating
groundhogs, torporing bats, and
more. Take your newly made mask and
perform a dreamy tale of what it means to
take rest in the winter. Free, and admission
to the grounds is free until noon. Hibernators
Hygge Weekend event. Wave
Hill House, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday, February 1; Sunday, February
2: The Hibernators Den: Cozy up in
the hibernators’ reading nook with books,
puzzles and puppets. Hunt for sleeping
creatures in a self-guided game and enjoy
a little hygge with friends and family.
Free, and admission to the gardens in
free until noon. Hibernators Hygge Weekend

Saturday, February 1: Wintry Animal
Stories and Songs with NYPL: Sing
songs, listen to stories and borrow books
from the New York Public Library. Free,
and admission to the grounds is free until

Saturday, February 1: Nature Presentation:
To Sleep or Not to Sleep—Animal
Winter Survival Strategies: Discover the
amazing…and sometimes strange…adaptations
that allow native amphibians,
reptiles, mammals and birds to survive
harsh New York winters. While some remain
awake and active, others migrate
south or enter a state of suspended animation.
Environmental educator Taylor
Ouellette from the Hudson Highlands
Nature Museum and her live animal-ambassadors
reveal these survival strategies
and more. Ages eight and older welcome
with an adult. Free, and admission

Saturday, February 1: Restful Yoga
for Little Hibernators: Join yoga teacher
Rose Turshen in the Hibernators Den as
she guides children and their partners
through a sequence of gentle poses that
are sure to help even the wildest of animals
settle down. Rest in poses like “bedtime
bug” and “tired dog”, then awaken
from hibernation like a bear and head
home for a long winter’s nap. Appropriate
for ages fi ve and older with an adult
companion. Free with admission to the
grounds. Hibernators Hygge Weekend

Sunday, February 2: Groundhog’s
Pancake Breakfast: Celebrate Groundhog’s
Day with a morning feast at Wave
Hill! Descend into Wave Hill’s snug underground
building for a hearty hibernators’
breakfast by the crackling fi re. Feast on
pancakes and waffl es with tasty toppings
along with other scrumptious breakfast
fare. Includes coffee, tea, orange juice,
and a hot chocolate bar. Prizes awarded
for best hibernators costume, coziest
PJ’s and more! Enjoy lively music with
musicians Jody Kruskal and Friends from
10:30 till noon. Gluten-free items available.

Sunday, February 2: Nature Presentation:
Going to Bat for New York’s Bats:
Like it or love it, New York State is home
to nine species of bats. How many live in
New York City? And where do they go in
the winter? Bat conservationist and citizen
scientist Danielle Gustafson reveals
the winter survival strategies of bats in the
Big Apple and beyond. Hear the latest research
about a devastating disease called
the white-nose syndrome, which has
killed millions of North American bats, and
fi nd out why bats are so benefi cial to the
environment. Gain a new appreciation for
these misunderstood animals and fi nd out
how you can go to bat for bats with simple
conservation and community science efforts.
Ages 10 and older welcome with an

Just like the groundhog, many animals
emerge from their dens to determine
how long the deep, dark days of winter
will last. They visit with friends and dance
the afternoon away, getting good and
tired for what remains of the season. Don
your PJ’s, jewels and animal mask to become
your favorite hibernator and learn
to waltz in our majestic Armor Hall with
musicians Jody Kruskal and Friends. Everyone’s
invited to the Hibernators Ball!

Drop-In Sunday: Artists in the Winter

Aromas and Herbs: Yoga Nidra is a centuries
old healing practice that allows the
body to rest and renew in the conscious
state teetering on wake and sleep. Slow
down and snuggle up this hibernation
season as dosha healer Sara Hart of
iHart Lens guides you in relaxing yoga
poses and meditation, supplemented
with herbs and essential oils that support
a deeper sense of calm and well-being.
Lavender eye pillows and warm herbal
