BRONX TIMES REPORTER, NOVEMBER 2 52 9-DECEMBER 5, 2019 BTR
VEHICLE CRASHES INTO WASTE CONTAINER
BY MARY JANE MUSANO
Our annual Christmas
Tree Lighting will be on Saturday,
December 14. We will
be gathering at 5:30 p.m. at
Schneider-Sampson Park on
Hollywood Avenue to wait for
Santa’s arrival. It is a great
time to come out to wish your
friends and neighbors a Merry
Christmas. We will have cookies
and hot chocolate to enjoy
and also some sweet treats.
Please join us and bring your
friends.
Santa will arrive with gifts
for children 12 and under. I
suggest you arrive early as
gifts will be given on a fi rst
come fi rst served basis for as
long as they last. Bring your
camera so you can get a photo
of Santa arriving on his big,
red sleigh. You will also want
a photo of your child sitting on
Santa’s knee in his beautiful
red velvet chair.
Bloomberg’s Stop, Question
and Frisk
I think it is time that the
sane, sensible people in our
city speak out. It is a fact,
not someone’s opinion, that
‘Stop, Question and Frisk’ improved
the safety in our city
for everyone. It took guns off
of the streets in all neighborhoods
making it safer in all
neighborhoods. It allowed police
offi cers to do their jobs
more effectively. It helped
them to discover who the bad
guys were so that people in all
neighborhoods could be protected
from them.
When a program is working
A car crashed into a waste management container on Middletown Road and Edison Avenue on Saturday,
November 16 at about 12:30 p.m. It was reported that no other car was in the vicinity when the
accident occurred. Photo by Aracelis Batista
so effectively, you do not
just throw it out. You mold
it and tweak it so that it becomes
even better. You educate
police offi cers, communities
and everyone involved
how to make a good program
better. It is said by some that
it put more minorities in jail.
Unfortunately, more minorities
live in crime ridden areas
and therein lies the real problem.
That is the problem we
should be working on but no
one wants to talk about that.
Most of the people that live in
high crime areas are good people
that need to be protected
from bad people. They do not
want people that would hurt
them in their neighborhoods.
They have a right to live in
peace and the only way to do
that is to put the bad guys in
jail where they belong in every
community.
So, to eliminate the SQF
program served to hurt minorities
not help them. Why are
we not talking about why we
have high crime areas? It is a
complicated issue but helping
people in those areas get jobs
will help. Our president is doing
that by greatly improving
our economy. With a good education,
a good family life and
a good job one can rise out of
poverty like a Phoenix. So,
the sensible thing to do is to
re-instate Stop, Question and
Frisk so that all people in all
neighborhoods will be safer.
And while we are doing that
we must do what no one so far
has done. We must talk about
how to reduce high crime areas
through education, help
with jobs and family counseling
when needed.
By apologizing for an effective
and much needed program,
Mr. Bloomberg, has
given us a peek into what a
Bloomberg administration
would be like and it is not
very good. Going on an apology
tour may get you a few
votes but most of us are smart
enough to see through the fog
you are trying to create.

Happy Thanksgiving to
