VETERANS DAY CEREMONY
Members of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary 38 attended a Veterans Day ceremony at the Winged
Victory monument in Pelham Bay Park on Monday, November 11 to recognize the annual holiday.

BIAGGI, CB10 JOINS CITY ISLAND RISING
FOR HART ISLAND TOUR
On Friday, November 15, City Island Rising members joined Senator Alessandra Biaggi and Community
Board 10 district manager Matt Cruz for an extensive tour of Hart Island. Senator Biaggi’s offi ce
arranged the tour so local residents could see Hart Island’s current conditions and restrictions.

BRONX CENTER HOLDS VETERANS DAY EVENT
Bronx Center held a Veterans Day event to honor those who have served our country on Monday,
November 11. The event featured patriotic music and a live guitarist, along with the facility handing
out Certifi cates of Merit.

DINOWITZ RECOGNIZES WORLD DIABETES DAY
Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz visited North Central Bronx Hospital to acknowledge World Diabetes
Day at NCBH’s ‘World Diabetes Day Awareness’ event on Thursday, November 14. Diabetes is one of
the top causes of death for Bronx residents, mostly due to the borough’s ongoing struggle with
obesity, unhealthy eating and sedentary lifestyles.

MOCK DEBATE HELD AT
EQUALITY CHARTER
HIGH SCHOOL
Earlier this month, Equality Charter High School held
its annual mock debate, in order to promote student
political awareness and participation in the democratic
process. This year’s mock debate, which focused on the
democratic presidential debates and current issues such
as gun control, was moderated by Assemblywoman Karines
Reyes.
