BRONX TIMES REPORTER, NOVEMBER 1 BTR 5-21, 2019 31
Town Hall Meeting
I want to thank everyone who attended the
most recent town hall regarding the proposed
methadone clinic on 2500 Williamsbridge
Road and rumored clinic at the former temple
on Esplanade Ave. and Mace Ave.
The community’s concerns mean a great
deal to me. I want to thank the hundreds of
residents who attended on that rainy night,
and for allowing me to answer your questions
and providing updates on the issue.
Opioid addiction is a very serious problem
in our Bronx communities. We must do what
we can to ensure that the proper resources
are allocated to combat this crisis.
Any proposed location for methadone clinics
near residential neighborhoods, schools,
and places of worship will not be supported.
As your Councilman, I am committed to
fi nding alternative locations that allows those
affl icted to get the help they need.
It’s important that we set the record straight
on any potential misconceptions in the community.
Please feel free to contact my offi
ce to address your concerns, and ask to be
signed up for our weekly online newsletter.
If you have any questions or if you or someone
you know is seeking help for opioid addiction,
please call my offi ce at (718) 931-1721
or email mgjonaj@council.nyc.gov.
