ake Genen is an Astoria-based graphic designer who has created a vast family of animorphic tintype portraits—essentially vintage-style prints of animal characters J portraying human emotions in stereotypically human situations. Much like C.S. Lewis in “The Chronicles of Narnia,” Genen’s assorted cast of characters achieves a wildly universal appeal and relatability through transposing non-human beings into familiar situations.
