Story BY TARA GENEN I started Sweet Little Bee Stings when my daughter, Violet, was born last year. I've always been into the "boho chic" look. Beaded sandals, heaps of jewelry, graphic prints—but it wasn't until I started adding “urban turbans” that my look felt complete. Now that I have a daughter of my own to dress up, I can't think of a better accessory for giving her that extra bit of edge. Hip mommy = hip baby. I source materials from around the globe and handcraft each piece with love right here in Astoria, New York. Since starting the shop I've added Drooldanas, Paci Clips and, most recently, toddler sunglass cases. Mitten clips are coming soon for the winter season. Basically, whatever I see a need for, I make. Most of the time my mama friends see what I put on Violet, and I end up making them for Violet's little friends, too. Since opening my Etsy shop last Mother's Day, I've shipped orders to San Diego, California, Ohio, Maryland, New York and New Jersey. I try to nd material that other merchants don't have. And I constantly rotate in new fabrics. We've lived here in Astoria for the last ve years and have always enjoyed all the neighborhood has to o er. I look forward to sharing my designs with local shops, and mamas and papas alike. As a matter of fact, there is a possible pop-up shop in the talks for late December at e Brass Owl. etsy.com/shop/sweetlittlebeestings Instagram: sweetlittlebeestings Use code BORO10 now through Dec. 31 for 10 percent off your order.
