its own place in Astoria history. Plus,
Domenico and Anthony grew up just two
blocks away from where they would later
open the first Sac’s Place on Broadway
and 29th Street. At the time, Domenico
was still in college and working at an
internship, and his brother Anthony was
working at a bank. They realized that
careers in the corporate world might
not be for them in the long run, so they
decided to try something different.
The brothers’ love of food and wine — as
well as the warm atmosphere of the Italian
family they grew up in — inspired them to try
their hand in the restaurant business, where
they could share good food and happy
times with others.
“To me, it was just going to be a stepping
stone to something else,” Domenico said.
“But then I liked it; we liked meeting and
hanging out with new people.”
Sac’s started as a small corner location
before they eventually bought the space
next door and expanded. They also
opened a second location in Jackson
Heights to spread more of their delicious
recipes throughout Queens. But when
