EXPLORE YOUR BORO Free Yoga at Socrates Sculpture Park socratessculpturepark.org/ programevent/free-yoga Kripalu yoga is a gentle form of Hatha yoga, combining meditation, physical healing, selfawareness and reflection. Classes are comprised of breathing exercises, stretches, a series of individual poses and an ending relaxation. Located on the grassy knoll under the trees and adjacent to the waterfront, free classes run through Sept. 25. Classes are taught by popular Kripalu instructors Monique Schubert and Yojaida Estrella and are complimentary to the public. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel. Weather permitting, Saturday Yoga Sessions run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon. Sunday Yoga Sessions run from 10 to 11 a.m. Grand Café 37-01 30th Ave. ww.grandcafelounge.com Nothing says Astoria quite the same as sitting on a Greek sidewalk café and sipping a frothy frappé. Grand serves breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, so even if Sunday evening’s festivities cause a late start for breakfast, this place is just your speed. Service is quite relaxed, but if you’re not in a hurry, a seat on the patio is an ideal way to spend the afternoon. Check out their delicious new juices, created next door at Ginger. Hibino 10-70 Jackson Ave., LIC ww.Hibino-LIC.com The Bento Box would have been an exceptional meal all by itself, but we think it is merely the draw to get you hooked. With food this fresh, clean and delicious at such an accessible price point (two sushi rolls with soup and salad are also $10), this is the kind of Japanese restaurant we’d like to visit a lot more often. Check the website for daily specials—and then order them. JUNE 2016 | BOROMAG.COM | 35
