Trees flower with pink and white blossoms, and on the pavement, cumbersome leather boots are traded in for the light patter of sandals and flip-flops. New Yorkers are always so eager to swap their winter garb for shorts and sunglasses, bringing fresh life into the parks and along streets and sidewalk cafes throughout the city. The music of birds is crisp in the air, and this month we also celebrate the music of our local artists. APAC launches a brilliant production of a Sondheim classic, and the Astoria Choir premieres a piece by a Pulitzer Prize-nominated composer. Like the cherry blossoms, new businesses are also blooming. We stop by Tea and Milk to meet with the owners, and we swing back to our beloved LIC Flea to visit gift ideas for Mother’s Day. We even fly kites in Socrates Sculpture Park, and stop to smell the roses at two exceptional local flower shops.
