serves as the backdrop of the living
room. In handmade black stenciling, it
reads, “I fell in love with her courage,
her sincerity, and her flaming self
respect. And it's these things I'd
believe in, even if the whole world
indulged in wild suspicions that she
wasn't all she should be. I love her and
it is the beginning of everything.” The
piece immediately draws the eye — but
it may or may not survive the overhaul.
What won’t change is their home
base: The two have no desire to leave
their spacious apartment, let alone
Astoria. To them, Astoria offers the
perfect combination of convenience
and comfort, with the R train a block
away from their home and streets that
allow them to bike with Eleanor and
their newest pup, Gus.
Cecilia and Jacobs bounced around
from apartment to apartment within
Astoria for nearly a decade and a half
before ending up here.
They met only two years ago, but
they’ve lived in close proximity without
realizing it for a while. Cecilia and
Jacobs learned only recently that they
lived just one block away from each
other 16 years ago when they first
moved into Astoria.
Each loves Astoria and does not plan
to leave their home.
When asked how they’d describe
the apartment, Jason called it
“comfortable.”
It’s a place where “you don't have to
take your shoes off when you come in,”
Cecilia added.
