 They’re bringing the ’70s
 back to Brooklyn!
 A whopping 130 alums of
 Abraham Lincoln High School’s
class of 1979 traveled to Dyker
 Beach Golf Course on Saturday
 for their 40-year reunion.
 Guests reminisced about the
good ol’ days at their Brighton
Beach alma mater with a buffet,
   open bar, and DJ blasting
 classic tunes all night long.
 “We brought our classmates
 and friends together and partied
like it was 1979,” said Reunion
 Committee member Sharon
Stern. “You can take us out
of Lincoln High, but you can’t
take Lincoln High out of us!”
 Welcoming guests from every
 part of the country, Stern,
 who organized the gala along
 with nine other committee
 members, said the event celebrated
 COURIER LIFE, N 34 OVEMBER 15-21, 2019
 their class’s wonderful
 diversity and the rich lives
their friends went on to live
 after graduating from their
 cherished Brighton Beach institution.

“No party is as diverse as
 a high school reunion,” said
 Stern. “We had all different
types of people who have lead
 very different lives over the
 past 40 years.”
 And the powwow wasn’t
just for students — fi ve teachers
came out to party with their
 former pupils. Including former
 drama teacher Dan Flickstein,
who was greeted by the entire
cast of the school’s 1979 production
 of “The Fantasticks.”

 While proud of their own
 time at Lincoln High, Stern
said the 1979 alums stay hip
 with their school’s current students,
   with many attending
 last year’s homecoming and
 donating regularly. Most of
the speeches made at the start
of the night by selected alumnae
 encouraged guests to pour
 even more into the school’s
 current students.
“We want to keep the Lincoln
 spirit alive and we know
our generation is very much a
 part of that,” said Stern.
