Flight Training Scholarships
funded by a donation by Terminal

will have flight training

in Famingdale as a stepping
stone to careers in aviation.
T1 and JetBlue recently donated
thousands of dollars to
the Cradle of Aviation as part
of their young people’s education
development which was
not related to the redevelopment
but indicative of the support
given to young people
interested in aviation. The
Council declared that more
than 3,000 new operational
jobs upon opening with emphasis
on local hiring in aviation,
logistics, retail staff,
concessions, terminal management,
security and federal
agency positions which will be
partially filled by graduates of
the various supported aviation
scholarship programs at
Aviation High School, CUNY
and Vaughn College.
During the member comment
period, Barbara Brown,
Chair of NY Committee Aviation
Roundtable (NYCAR)
presented the plan for community
benefits that have resulted
form many NYCAR
committee meetings over the
past year.
New Outreach office hours
at the Community office at
144-33 Jamaica Ave will include
specific times for representatives
from The New
Terminal One, Millennium
and project partners American
Airlines, Queens Air
Services Development Office
and Council for Airport Opportunities
as well as MWBE
certification support. All the
developers and workforce organizations
established fixed
hours to meet with the community
everyday throughout
the coming weeks with daily

Overall Outreach efforts
over the last few months were
impressive with attendance
at a number of job fairs, TWA
Hotel hiring with CAO, open
houses to the public to learn
about the program, a series of
career days with the Department
of Education at High
School and Middle Schools.
