AT QUEENS ELMCOR CENTER
Port Authority management,
college administration,
elected officials, friends
and community supporters
gathered at Elmcor to both
celebrate the opening of the
Council for Airport Opportunity
(CAO) Career Office
opening as well as attend
the awarding of six Vaughn
College students receiving
scholarships from the Port
Authority Port Authority of
NY, NJ and Vaughn College.
Unprecedented numbers
of the community spectrum
jammed into the third floor
to meet with fellow supporters
of the Elmcor community
center in East Elmhurst
and to applaud the
six student while learning
of the opportunities that
CAO brings to job seekers
through the redevelopment
of both LaGuardia and JFK
Airports.
Port Executive Director
Rick Cotton said “The
Port Authority’s partnership
with the CAO provides
residents with job-readiness
counseling, career orientation
and instruction in interviewing
and job search
techniques. Presenting our
Vaughn Scholarship recipients

for Airport Opportunity La-
Guardia Career Center at Elmcor
helps advance that incredibly
vital mission.”
Assembly member Jeffrion
Aubry said, “As an
elected official, my number
one priority is ensuring the
success and growth of my
constituents.”
CAO Executive Director
Andrew Campbell said,
“CAO’s new LaGuardia Career
Center will generate
greater and easier access to
airport careers for local residents.
I commend the Port
Authority and local elected
officials for their foresight
in recognizing community
needs and bringing the La-
Guardia redevelopment
community office to the
neighborhood.
The community was actively
involved in both the
opening as young teens were
having basket ball practice
downstairs in the auditorium
where the Vaughn College
team also plays. This is
truly a community center
where Assemblyman and
area resident Aubrey and
Council Member Moya are
proud to be part of.
