KAAMCO Convention from JFK
Annual Meeting and Networking Event always a great time
Time out of the more leisure convention activities is the May Kaamco monthly meeting. Fourth from the left, Ana Lemos, Kaamco President, calling the meeting to order.
Kaamco President Ana Lemos chose San Juan Puerto Rico
as the 2019 Convention site to help the island economy. She said
she wanted to create awareness of the continuing efforts to rebuild
the island after Hurricanes and bring Kaamco tourist
dollars to the people.
In return, nature brought several days of tropical weather
for excellent swimming, exploration and camaraderie to the
members. The Kaamco organization is the largest at JFK Airport
comprised primarily of the airlines with other stakeholders
sharing in the welfare of the entire airport community.
The annual convention is where everyone can get together
in a relaxed and more socially networking way to get to know
each other better and find ways to work for mutual benefit.
Several years ago Kaamco decided to open the convention to
children of the members as well. Some of the members’ families
who have children make this an annual trip, which is more like
a camp where the kids see friends and have a great time.
Convention events range from the welcome and departure
parties, group and individual excursions, and this year a flag
exchange between the San Juan Airport and Kaamco managements
took place for a cultural and business exchange.
A special time is made for the annual get together of all the
Kaamco presidents honoring their leadership and mentorship
to successive presidents. Each past executive looks forward to
receiving the accolades and sharing their valuable experiences
for the organization and overall airport community.
This year’s last evening of 2019 event was held on the veranda
of the Condado Vanderbilt with breezy warm winds, local
cuisine and a great sunset ending a tradition of JFK community
spirit.
