Spiritual messages from JFKIAT Chapels
For strength in the face of a health crisis
Rabbi Ari Korenblit, The International
Synagogue at JFK
Never has the world experienced
such an existential threat as we
are currently enduring. It is indiscriminate,
cruel, painful and paralyzing.
Heartening, are the courageous
first responders who wage
this battle with no regard for their
own life and limb, while employing
unequalled sacrifice and fortitude.
Let us pray, that we who labor
lovingly in God’s garden, and tend
to His flock in our different capacities
at our airports -- the veritable
gateways to the world -- and elsewhere,
should see the immediate
banishment of this Angel of Death
from our midst. May Almighty God
send immediate spiritual and physical
healing to all mankind He created
in His image, and may we all
quickly recover our sense of agency
and power to continually make this
world a better place.
As we diligently sanitize our
hands the requisite amount of time,
let us remember in Whose hands we
all are.
Pastor Dabee, Christ for
World Chapel
You are not alone because we are
in this fight together.
You are not alone because this
disease does not discriminate.
You are not alone because God is
with us - Emmanuel.
You are not alone because “God
is in the midst of the City, it shall
not be moved; God will help it when
the morning dawns.” (Psalm 46:5)
The blessing of the living God,
Father, + Son, and Holy Spirit, surround
and sustain you, keep you
from harm, and fill you with courage.
Amen
AA reduces flights to a trickle
Cites low demand & worker safety
As coronavirus (COVID-19)
cases are high and guidelines for
air travel are in place,American
Airlines will temporarily suspend
more flights to JFK, LGA and
EWR The new, temporary schedule
will run April 7 through May
6.AA cites” employee safety and
that of our customers remains our
top priority and we will continue to
stress theCDC recommendations
throughout our system.”LGA, JFK
and EWR will only operate from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. ET as turn-only operations
with noaircraft or crews remaining
overnight at these three
airports. The limited number of
flights we willoperate will have capacity
restrictions in place to maintain
social distancing onboard
eachaircraft. These flights will be
crewed by those from bases outside
of New York. Here is an overview
of the temporary schedule: LGA:
Two daily flights to CLT and DFW.
One daily flight to BOS, ORD, MIA
and DCA. JFK: One daily flight to
DFW, CLT and MIA. EWR: One
daily flight to DFW and CLT. EWR
– ORD service were suspended on
April 9.According to their release,
“We recognize the essential service
we provide to New York, and
all of the airports Americanserves,
as the world fights the spread of
COVID-19. This limited New York
service will continueto provide
critical connectivity for our customers,
including transportation
for any essentialpersonnel and
goods needed by the community
and medical professionals battling
the disease.”Adding, “Although
New York is one of the current COVID
19 hotspots in the U.S., all of us
have anincredibly important role to
play as we ensure the safety of our
colleagues, communities andloved
ones as we work to contain the virus.

Essential workers to wear masks
New Gov. Cuomo directive
As of April 12, Governor Cuomo
directs essential workers wear
masks. For years Asian visitors
have worn masks arriving in the
US. Early in the pandemic, it was
not recommended to for our public
to wear a mask.
In a twist which now contradicts
that recommendation early in the
corona virus pandemic, in which
health officials did not recommend
wearing face masks, now they are
strongly advised and directed in
NYS for essential workers. After reviewing
the way the virus spread, a
better understanding of transmission
and the degree of transmission,
these same health officials
now believe people should wear a
mask in public.
In addition to social distancing,
it is recommended that people shopping
for food or essentials should
wear any type of mask covering the
nose, and mouth to provide a layer
of protection from those asymptomatic
people who could be carrying
the virus.
This is not to say that these
typically blue surgical masks will
protect someone from contracting
the disease from a sick individual.
They won’t. Only the N95 or
NK95 will do this, but even then,
any droplets from a sneeze or cold
could find their ways into the eyes
and transmit the virus. But everyone
wearing the blue surgicals
will provide another layer of protection.
Best advice is to stay at least 6
feet from others, don’t spend a lot
of time in public places, practice
shelter-in-home directives from the
health officials, wash hands after
touching any foreign object and you
own daily touch points, don’t rub
eyes after inadvertently touching
an out of home surface, don’t shake
hands, wear gloves when shopping
and don’t forget to dispose of the
masks and gloves after each use.
