Robber swipes cash from local bank

Detectives need the public’s
help in finding a man who swiped
cash from a bank in Elmhurst
last week.
Law enforcement sources said
the robbery took place at 11:29 a.m.
on May 28 at the Santander Bank
located at 83-20 Roosevelt Ave., near
Baxter Avenue.
According to police, the thief
walked up to a teller at the location
and presented a demand note while
stating that he had a firearm. The
employee provided the suspect with
$2,908 in cash.
After receiving the dough, cops
noted, the bandit f led from the bank
and was last seen heading on foot
southbound along Baxter Avenue
before turning eastbound onto
Gleane Street.
Officers from the 110th Precinct
responded to the scene. There
were no reported injuries.
On May 31, the NYPD released
surveillance camera images of the
bandit. They described him as a
white or Hispanic male standing
at 5 feet, 10 inches or 5 feet, 11
inches tall and weighing 170
pounds. He was last seen wearing
dark sunglasses, a black baseball
cap, a blue hooded sweatshirt and
tan pants.

Flushing
Car crashes into sushi restaurant

No one was seriously injured after
a man crashed his car into a Flushing
sushi restaurant on Thursday
morning.
Authorities say that at 7:56 a.m.
on May 30, police received a 911 call
regarding an aided male in a vehicle
accident at Sushi Village, located at 32-
50 Francis Lewis Blvd.
Upon their arrival, emergency
personnel and officers from the
111th Precinct found that the male
victim, who has not been identified,
had crashed his four-door sedan into
the restaurant.
At this time, it is not known what
caused the driver to lose control of the
vehicle. Sushi Village was not open at
the time of the incident.
A report of the Citizen App indicted
that the driver was trapped in the car,
but police confirmed that the victim
was removed from the car. The victim
did not sustain any serious injuries but
went to a local hospital for treatment.
No one was serious injured as a
result of the incident.

Flushing
Unidentified woman found dead on bed

Police are still investigating the
death of a woman who was found on
a bed in a Flushing apartment on
Sunday morning.
Authorities say that at 10:29 a.m. on
June 2, officers from the 109th Precinct
responded to a 911 call regarding
an unconscious woman inside an
apartment located on Willets Point
Boulevard between Parsons Boulevard
and Union Street.
Upon their arrival, officers found an
unidentified woman unconscious and
unresponsive in a bed at the location
with no obvious signs of trauma.
EMS rushed to the scene and
declared the victim dead on arrival.
The Medical Examiner will
determine the cause of death. The
investigation is ongoing.

Astoria
Six sought for 7-Eleven beatdown

Police released photos on May 31
of six men wanted in connection with
a recent, bloody beating inside an
Astoria 7-Eleven store.
Law enforcement sources said the
group chased the 25-year-old male
victim into the 7-Eleven store at 30-01
30th Ave. at 11 p.m. on May 24.
Sources familiar with the
investigation said that the victim ran
inside the store and attempted to hide
behind the counter to avoid the attack.
However, the group found him and
began assaulting him about the body.
One of the suspects grabbed a liquor
bottle and struck the victim numerous
times, according to police, causing
the bottle to break. Nonetheless,
authorities noted, the assailant used
the broken bottle to stab the man
repeatedly in the abdomen, chest and
arm.
Another individual allegedly
attacked the man with a coffee pot, law
enforcement sources noted.
The victim managed to get away
from his attackers and run home,
sources familiar with the investigation
said. Family members contacted police
and brought him to Elmhurst Hospital
for treatment of numerous lacerations
and a fractured finger.
The incident was reported to the
114th Precinct. At this time, police
have not yet disclosed a possible motive
for the assault.
