Bayside motorcyclist killed in wreck

A Bayside man died of his injuries
after he was thrown from his
motorcycle in Whitestone on Sunday
afternoon, police reported.
According to authorities, at 1:42
p.m. on April 14, officers from the
109th Precinct responded to a 911 call
regarding a motor vehicle collision
involving a motorcycle in front of 21-60
Utopia Pkwy., near 22nd Avenue.
Upon their arrival, police found
30-year-old Joseph Calvacca of 35th
Avenue in Bayside at the scene, who
was unconscious and receiving care
from emergency responders.
A preliminary investigation found
that Calvacca was riding southbound
on Utopia Parkway when he lost control
of his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle. He was
ejected off of the seat and collided with
a parked, unoccupied 2018 Jeep SUV
and came to rest on the roadway.
EMS rushed Calvacca to
Flushing Hospital Medical Center,
where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.

Deadly drive-by shooting

The suspect who shot a 48-year-old
man to death in South Jamaica on
Saturday morning remains at large,
police sources said.
Law enforcement sources said the
deadly shooting occurred at about 6
a.m. on April 13 in front of a location
on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard between
108th and 109th Avenues.
Officers from the 103rd Precinct
responded to a ShotSpotter activation
and found the 48-year-old male victim
in the passenger’s seat of a bulletridden
black Nissan Maxima. He had
suffered multiple gunshot wounds to
his torso and arm.

Jamaica Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead.
Police have not yet publicly
disclosed his identity, but the New
York Daily News, citing police sources,
identified him as Shaun Peart.
In all, the Daily News reported, at
least six bullets blasted the driver’s
side door of the Nissan Maxima, and
the window had been completely
shattered.
Police sources have yet to disclose
a description of the shooter. No arrests
have been made, and the investigation
is ongoing.
ShotSpotter is a high-tech NYPD
program which uses sensors designed
to track the location of gunfire
throughout the city.

Springfi eld Gardens
Arrest made in man’s murder

Police arrested a Springfield
Gardens man for shooting a man in
the chest on a neighborhood street
last month.
Following an ongoing investigation,
Keanu Suckoo, 18, was arrested on
April 11 for the fatal shooting of 27-
year-old Pernell Cudjoe.
According to police, at 6:54 p.m.
on March 5, officers from the 105th
Precinct responded to a 911 call
regarding a male shot in the vicinity
of 180th Street and 145th Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers
found Cudjoe lying unresponsive
at the scene with a bullet wound in
his chest.
EMS rushed Cudjoe to
Jamaica Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead.
At this time, it is not clear what the
motive was behind the shooting.
Suckoo was charged with murder,
attempted murder and two counts
of criminal possession of a
loaded firearm.
114th Precinct
Astoria
Hungry crooks rob local Dunkin’ shop

Cops are currently looking for
a money-hungry bandit who stole
cash at knifepoint from an Astoria
Dunkin Donuts last week.
Law enforcement sources said the
robbery occurred just after 6 a.m. on
April 11 inside the Dunkin location
at 32-48 Steinway St.
According to police, the bandit
walked into the establishment,
displayed a knife and demanded cash
from the workers. Police sources
did not immediately know how
many people were inside the shop
at the time, or how much cash the
crook obtained.
Information on the Citizen app
indicated that the perpetrator
removed an undisclosed amount of
money from the register, but police
could not immediately confirm
that to QNS.
The suspect fled the scene
possibly with an unidentified male,
sources noted.
Officers from the 114th Precinct
responded to the incident and
initiated a search of the surrounding
area. At this time, no arrests have
been reported.
Police described the knifewielding
robber as a white male in a
white sweater.
The investigation is ongoing.
